Internet Chess

Internet Chess has changed the chess scene. Many, including this writer, will get their fix, comfortably,
on Internet Chess to the detriment of Club Chess.

However one misses the drama, the tension off human interaction, the zingers, the Howls of defeat, the feeling of victory as one's opponent is dashed against the rocks, the humor of the chessplayer's puns.

Nothing beats Club Chess, Internet Chess IS fun and easy from one's home but can you see your opponent squirm, can you feel the tension as he counterattacks and smugly, hides a smile or when you unleash an exclam move and he twitches worriedly , casting about desperately for a plan to save himself.

So, get thee of thine hiney, your glowing screen and find yon self onto the asphalt path to the Coral Gables Chess Club. We aim to beat you into submission. We KNOW you aim to do the same to us. And ...We wait ...for thee......
USCF, Fritz

Computer Chess...Let's Equalize!!

Computer Chess- yes..they're Strong and Powerful and can beat me and most humans. However, I propose
we equalise the game.

Let's have a match Computer versus Human and the computer operates on a 4 hour battery charge!
This will be roughly equivalent to a human who has to recharge their battery (eat/sleep/rest etc) every 4 hours
The Computer cannot get a recharge. This should change the dynamics of the game.
I can see GM's and IM's playing to keep equal whilst the batteries start to run low on the computer and then seizing
the attack as the power winds down....

Trying to beat a computer with the latest bells and whistles is somewhat akin to having a footrace with a Model T.
They both cover distance...but....
